Girl Made of Stars

3.5 stars
It’s hard for me to write a review about a book with such a heavy topic. I enjoyed the book and the writing, but at a consistent flow. I didn’t feel that deep connection I so often feel with my characters. I didn’t feel that hunger to keep reading. With such a heavy topic, I didn’t feel like it fulfilled the muddle of emotions that may come with such difficult scenarios.
I felt that there was so much going on and then all of a sudden there wasn’t. While it’s important to talk about all these issues, I felt the story of Charlie’s identity was disconnected from the main plot. It felt like a forced subplot.
It was enjoyable and can be a catalyst to opening up important discussions.
