Such a Pretty Girl by T. Greenwood

5.0

This was such a compelling story. The setting is SO immersive and lived in, with some really good and interesting and loveable and hateable characters and relationships. Once we get to the origin of the title - eugh. The flashbacks were so well written, oftentimes authors don’t know how to write children, but the way things would happen but Ryan doesn’t understand them/the implications, but the readers do - so good, in a heartbreaking way. Something I couldn’t even articulate about this book until I read the reviews - so often stories about terrible parents end in the child forgiving them/giving them a second chance, and I deeply appreciate the way this book looked at that idea (even had the parent articulate that exact sentiment) and said no fucking way.
