I have read this book more than once. Shaara takes you into the minds and hearts of the historic characters who fought at Gettysburg, including Lee and Longstreet. One of the interesting and less known to me is Chamberlain from Maine, who was a professor a Bowdoin College before joining the Army of the Potomac. I should find a good biography of him.
