The Walking Dead, Vol. 23: Whispers Into Screams by Robert Kirkman
3.0
Life is good at Hilltop, society is being rebuilt and there is a focus on the day to day. Some may find this boring, but I like that Kirkman continues to try and explore what comes after the apocalypse - after all, it states on the back of every volume "In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally start living." So it's almost as if we are back to a holding pattern, (because if past volumes have taught us anything - nothing lasts forever). That said, this volume isn't all sunshine and roses, there is some heavy stuff, new characters and a couple of downright cringe-worthy, WTF moments. We learn more about the Whisperers and not that it's a surprise to anyone - the apocalypse heightens some peoples dickhead factor...
My last thoughts for this volume is that I can't help but think this is the calm before another storm...I have volume 24 waiting for me so I guess it won't take long to find out.
