A Thousand Splendid Suns was a heavy, tragic, and still somehow beautiful story of two women persisting in the unrelenting face of adversity. The story follows the two main characters through Afghanistan's political and ideological turmoil in a time of war. While enduring tragedy after tragedy, they happen to find themselves living together in a situation neither could have predicted. Friendship does not come easily but it is worth the wait. This story really exemplifies that light can be found in the darkest of places.
