Fat Chance, Charlie Vega by Crystal Maldonado
2.0
This book explores the importance of self-love and loving and being comfortable in the body that you have. I love the message of the book but if we replace the weight problems of the main character and turn it a somewhat-nerdy problem, it would be just like any YA out there--almost like the ones from Wattpad. The essentials were all there like: the hotter best friend whom everybody prefers over her, the jerk that the lead was running after, and the cute guy that likes her but the lead was not noticing it. I actually got more interested in the latter part of the book because my expected event happened in the middle of the book and I thought there would be something more moving that would make me completely love it. However, I was disappointed. One of the positive notes about this book was the representations here. I absolutely loved it.
