The Wind in the Willows
by Kenneth Grahame
This book is definitely one of those nostalgic childhood favorites for me. I hadn't read it in YEARS, so it was fun to reread it and remember everything that I'd forgotten! Things that stood out to me this time around were: Mr. Toad is really a very awful person toad.
That's about it. But also, the weird forest god thing threw me off. I remember being confused as a child, too. I'm not sure what that scene had to do with the rest of the story, but whatever I guess. Back to Toad. WHAT ON EARTH WAS WRONG WITH HIM? Honestly he was so absolutely awful that he was just awful enough to be tolerable. Slightly less awful and he would have been obnoxious. It was weird though that all the other animals kept calling him a "good toad." Like, um no sirs, he is NOT a good toad. He is in fact a very BAD toad. A very bad toad indeed.
Definitely a fun book though. Always nice to revisit the childhood faves!
