The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

5.0

‘We say many things when we are young. Eventually, we grow wiser’

Where do I even start this with absolute GEM of a book? The narrator on audible - amazing performance. Five stars is not enough! Subhanallah, I was enthralled by everything from this book. The setting, the ups and downs - just everything. Hector is my fave and Nina was great. Both are amazing characters with depth. At times, they annoyed me but I still rooted for them. I mean they are both telekinetics - come on, how could I not root for them!

Garcia created a fine Machiavellian with the character, Valarie. Valarie is actually my second fave. With all her callousness, Regina George would wish to learn from Valarie. I did at times feel sorry (a little bit) for her. She was a victim of the societal expectations that did not care for her happiness. However, there are so many ways to grow from that experience and she chose violence with words as her weapon of choice. For my hopeless romantics, this is your next read!
