My Bluegrass Baby by Molly Harper

4.0

I'm planning to do a joint review/discussion with my friend Mel on our review blog, Book Crush later in the week, but I wanted to jot down some of my initial thoughts on the book here in the meantime.

Since I really enjoyed And One Last Thing..., I was pretty excited about reading another book by Molly Harper that takes place in a realistic world. I love her paranormal books, but it's fun to experience different realms with my favorite authors.

My Bluegrass Baby has that humor I've come to expect from Molly Harper as well as the quirky characters that manage to get themselves into the strangest situations, so on that front I was satisfied.

I didn't love the book quite as much as I was expecting to, though. I enjoyed it quite a lot, and I liked that there was a more serious undertone to the story. That was something that I had liked so much about And One Last Thing... as well.

However, I didn't seem to click with the story quite so quickly. I didn't like Josh much at all until probably halfway through the book. Of course, a lot of this probably had to do with Sadie's feelings toward him, but it took me some time to really get on board with his character. I came around in the end, though, and by the time I finished I was really enjoying the book.
