This book was extremely hard for me to get through though the saving grace was probably the last third. The majority of the characters were unlikeable, including Liesl, and I didn’t really enjoy the writing style. It was interesting reading about the power plays that take place at these “distinguished” levels between men and women, “immigrants” and citizens, straight and queer folks, but it still wasn’t enough to want to reread this book again.
