Malice at the Palace
by Rhys Bowen
This mystery series is consistently enjoyable. In this installment, Lady Georgiana Rannoch (Georgie) is asked by the Queen of England to be a companion to Princess Marina of Greece in the weeks before her wedding to Prince George in 1934. For once Georgie (who is penniless) has nice digs in an apartment at Kensington Palace. It's not long, though, before a body is discovered on the grounds. The deceased is a former lover of the prince, so Georgie is asked to discreetly help with the murder investigation that is being kept quiet to avoid a possible scandal that might upset the wedding. With her clumsy maid, Queenie, and her secret fiance, Darcy, on the scene, Georgie solves the case in another witty, fun read with cameo appearances by Noel Coward and Wallis Simpson.
