Heated Rivals by Katee Robert

4.0

It was good but not as good as I had hoped for. Instead of drawing out the tension of the enemies-to-lovers trope that was touched upon with these two main characters in the first book, the trope was short-lived, and they became secret lovers. Carrigan was also strong and fearless in the first book and that just sort of diminished in the first book.

Alternative plot suggestion: Have James speak to Carrigan's father about his name being put on the list - O'Malleys would in part control all of Boston through their alliances. Then have Carrigan and James play out enemies to lovers while knocking boots and the rest of the storyline.

Spice was good but not as good as the first book. Still a good read and will continue with the series.
