The German Girl
by Armando Lucas Correa
I really loved this book. What a walk through a particular part of German, Cuban, and NYC history. Most of story goes back and forth between Hannah 1939 Berlin, and Anna 2014 NYC. The story of the St. Louis liner full of refugees from Hamburg to Havana and life for those who were able to land in Havana and lived out their life and other generations there too was most interesting. I couldn't stop reading it.
I really felt the youthfully enthusiasm of two almost 12 year olds in very different circumstances but both with sorrows to deal with and the future to adventure through.
So glad that Donna picked it for our book group!
