Across a Field of Starlight definitely has a lot of ups and downs.
This story was a mix of so many important themes, which would have profited from this story being a bit longer. The pacing is also a bit inconsistent. While the first half is pretty well paced, the second just flies by like it's a spaceship at lightning speed and speeds past quite a lot of important moments.
I was very curious about how the conflict would be resolved but was left a bit confused. It would have profited from getting a more in-depth explanation.
Other than that, the art style and colors capture the diversity of alien worlds very well and make it a thought-provoking and beautiful read.
