Ivy Aberdeen's Letter to the World by Ashley Herring Blake
4.0

When a tornado comes through town and Ivy Aberdeen's house is completely gone, and what hurts most is that her notebook with all her secret drawings is gone with it. No one understands why she's so upset, but Ivy isn't ready to tell them yet or even herself her notebook was the only place she felt comfortable admitting that she liked girls. With their house gone, her family (all 6 of them) stuffed in its hard for Ivy to feel comfortable. Her parents think it will help if Ivy goes to live with a friend for a little bit, but it just reinforces the idea in Ivy that she's being a burden. Things start to get better when she starts hanging out with June, but when Ivy starts to have feelings for June it gets complicated all over again.

Add this to books that make you cry. It's a heartfelt story about coming to terms with who you are and understanding that you matter in your family. Although there is a focus on Ivy's identify there's a lot of focus on how Ivy chooses to deal with her problems that adds to the story as a whole.
