i really loved how most of this was set in idris. and dont get me wrong, i adore the major city backdrops in the TSC franchise because that fuels my urban fantasy loving soul but city of glass taking place almost entirely in shadowhunter country truly amped up the fantastical elements of the whole series and added to the...i dont know if im using the right words but weight?? and historical gravity of ancient nephilim lore. because i dont think ive ever fully expressed it before but i fucking LOVE shadowhunter lore. its such a cool and unique concept.

im also obsessed with the pacing and build up of this book. i thought i was already good in ashes and bones but the looming sense of dread leading up to the battle and invasion along with the reveals and twists?? i personally already felt like i was having an out of body experience, but add in jace's death and resurrection and raziel's cunty ass killing valentine and baby i was having a fucking blast. all of those things happening paired with the fact that i already knew jace was a herondale but the jonathan/sebastian reveal still managed to gag me and take me by surprise is a testament to how much cassandra clare locked the fuck in.

its kinda insane how good of a finale this is considering it isnt even one and its only the end of the FIRST HALF of the series. dont know what the hell i'm in for towards the end but my body mind and soul is ready. 4.75 stars.
