Rental Person Who Does Nothing by Shoji Morimoto

informative medium-paced

3.0

This left me wanting more info and more insight into the way humans act and need specific interactions. It felt very surface level which I suppose is the point to an extent. This is definitely very Japanese but I wish it had discussed more about Japanese culture, specifically because it was translated I felt like I needed more context to the social expectations of a Japanese civilian. It was hard to separate my American view from this. Overall this is an interesting read and is so short it doesn’t feel like a waste. Just wanted more from it. But I suppose since rental person also doesn’t give much info when he’s in service, this book’s existence makes sense!
