The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Elizabeth O'Roark
0.0
It’s incredibly frustrating when authors don’t invest the time to research the countries they write about, especially when they rely on biased portrayals fueled by Western media. It feels disrespectful to see a country, like Somalia, misrepresented as nothing more than a dangerous or hopeless place. This kind of oversimplification and reliance on stereotypes not only harms the real people from those countries but also perpetuates a skewed view of the world. It’s crucial for writers to dig deeper and present a more accurate, nuanced depiction instead of repeating propaganda that reinforces negative perceptions.
