Beneath the Stands by Emily McIntire

5.0

"Elliot Carson. The man. The myth. The legend..."
*
This is the second book in the Sugarlake Series by Emily McIntire and while Chase and Alina were a sweet childhood friends-to-lovers story Becca and Eli are a hot and heavy enemies-to-forbidden lovers! I hope your ready to play the game...

"She’s fire. Absolutely insane. But I love the way she burns..."

Eli is the brother of Becca's best friend, Alina, and even as children he's always had a talent for riling up her temper. She hates him. The two of them find themselves at the same college in Florida, far away from Sugarlake and the prying eyes of the people who live there. But that burning hate Becca professes soon turns in to something else and it's a fire she can't seem to control.

"We’re all a little fucked- up, Becca..."

I loved this just as much as the first one! This time it's Becca and Eli's story, both of whom we were introduced to in Beneath the Stars and we even see an overlap of some events from their point of view. It's a best friend's brother trope but also college faculty/student romance and the chemistry between the two of them is undeniable! Becca and Eli set the pages on fire and can't seem to resist eachother but they are both harbouring inner demons that threaten to keep them apart.
I'm so happy I found Emily's books because I can't get over how good they are! The perfect mix of character development and addictive plot lines that keep coming. Roll on April 6th until we get Jax's book, Beneath the Hood.

"To assume we know our fate is futile, and when one path is stunted, another one is paved..."
