After finishing Babel, I’ve taken some time to reflect on it. The tone of the book reminds me of The Starless Sea and Addie LaRue. I probably haven’t had a book linger like this since I read both of these. I did expect Babel to be more rooted in fantasy than it was. The genre is mixed and really hard to pinpoint. A little fantasy, a bit of history, some political messages and a commentary on colonialism all wrapped into one book.
