The Surrogate by Toni Halleen

4.0

I was so excited to read this book even though I knew I may hate it. There is just no way a book like this can end well. Right?

I actually fell in love with a few of the characters and felt so torn about what was morally right in this situation. I thought from page 1 I knew how this book would end, but there were far more nuances that totally surprised me and make the ending one I truly loved.

The subject matter is tough. We’ve all seen a show or maybe even known someone whose adoption or surrogacy has fallen through because the birth mother changed her mind. This situation questions morals, ethics, and a mother’s bond to her baby. So a very tough subject matter, especially considering I’m 3 months postpartum but I cautiously enjoyed it.

I also applaud the author for having such accurate birth/postpartum health information. My only complaint is how did the baby not have low birth weight
