Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! by Mo Willems

Caldecott 3/3

I find all of the books in this series to be sweet and charming but they are still quite silly. The stories are simple and a good example to use when teaching dialogue though. It could also be used to teach personification.

The illustrations are cute yet the pages are very simple and very unlike the other Caldecott winners I had looked at. There is usually only one to two objects on a page and they aren't necessarily crudely drawn, but they could be easy to recreate. The simplicity is what won the book its honor though and is something to be appreciated.
