Bound by Blood by Jessica M. Butler

lighthearted medium-paced

2.5

The story was cute and cozy, but lots of clichés and cringey words made it feel less put together and thought through. The ending was very predictable and cut short with too many open ends left behind. This is my first fantasy romance book so maybe this genre just isn’t for me, but I felt like it was just cringey. The author puts a bunch of made up words into the text with no explanation of what they mean or what the creatures are etc. which was confusing. Like what is a garm?? What is the difference between a kytobar and a night fae or a blood fae? Also isn’t fae a plural for faeries? Why is it used in singular form to describe Ryul? It seems grammatically wrong. This background information would help build the story. Cute but probably won’t read again.
