The sand... the sand! Kind of fun and reflective story about sisyphean tasks and the purpose/meaning of life. At the same time it's also a bit lighthearted and felt a bit like a parable to me rather than depressingly overtly existential. Definitely a lot to think about, I didn't looove reading it but it was a fun experience. Keen to see the film. Defo has a very shallow female character, at the same time, I think it's meant for eerie effect and could probably work if the sexes were swapped.
