Did not finish book. Stopped at 3%.

I tried to keep reading but

the brutal hanging scene was described so graphical I could picture it and I couldn’t handle that so early in the book plus I had no idea why the guy was hung it wasn’t stated as far as I can tell like what did he do to die?
