The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler

3.5 stars

This book was such a fun read. As far as summer romance stories go, this one wasn't groundbreaking, but adorable nonetheless. Located in Moose Springs, Alaska, The Tourist Attraction is a story about a summer romance between a local diner owner, Graham, and a quirky & cute tourist, Zoey. Graham hates tourists and despite his efforts to decrease their traffic to his diner, The Tourist Trap remains a hotspot amongst the crowds. Zoey, who has tagged along with her wealthy best friend, Lana, has saved up every penny to take this dream trip to Alaska. And let the romance begin...

Like most romance books go, for me at least, there was no shortage of cheesy moments and slightly cringe-worthy exchanges, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't completely ship Graham and Zoey. One qualm I had while reading this was that some of the scenes and transitions were paced oddly which interfered with the flow of the story. However, this wasn't a big deal, but just something to note. Overall, as much as I enjoyed this, it just wasn't a stand out for me. I would still recommend this to anyone who likes light romance novels, but it was just a tad formulaic for me.

NOTE: For all of my Gilmore Girls fans out there, Graham is a literally copy of Luke Danes. From their grumpy facades, their distaste for change and tourism, and the fact they both own the beloved town diner, I just couldn't NOT picture Graham as Luke in my head. Plus, I totally got Stars Hollow vibes from Moose Springs and I was not complaining!
By no means am I trying to imply that this was the author's intent or inspiration, but if you are a fan, like me, the similarities made this read that much more fun.
