I am finally picking up Austen properly. So far I've only read the kids version of P&P and I've attempted Emma 2-3 times without much progress each time. So I wasn't sure if I'll be an Austen girlie but this specific copy has been calling me like the Green Goblin mask and so with time on my hands, I decided to pick it up.

I didn't expect to enjoy it so much. I was hooked from the first page and the banters from Lizzie made me smile to myself. I love female characters who can speak their mind freely--like Kate from The Taming of the Shrew, or Nelly from Wuthering Heights. It amuses me.

But after awhile I was just mainly breezing through. It was nice enough to read but I wasn't completely bewitched by Austen. It might be her writing style, but I felt like reading a book in a language I've just started to learn. It takes a while to get it, like I have to translate things in my head bit by bit. Also I find it a bit hard to discern the characters especially when everyone was referred to "Title" [Family name] and there are multiple people from said family. But alright, I am now acquainted with her work.

The last volume I loved the most. It had a lot of quotes that I liked, and the confessional scenes made me giggle to myself. I have to give it to Mr Darcy. He knew his feelings, made it known, and after getting rejected, he fixed himself and tried again. That's a real man. Although I'm still very much on Team Bingley. He was so cute and sweet, I was smitten (and couldn't be happier for Jane!).

I wasn't a full fan of the plot of this book but it was a nice enough book that I finished it pretty quickly. I feel really satisfied that I finally conquered an Austen novel.
