While Murakami’s approach to writing here offers welcome relief from the exhausted narrative that writing is misery, it also adds to a glut of evidence suggesting a correlation between novelists who emphasize the fun! of writing and novelists whose partners invisibly take care of absolutely everything else in their daily lives.
