This remains one of my favourite worlds and magic systems to date. While I loved being back with the characters, seeing more of the world and getting some big reveals, there was a repeating pattern of events within the story that did grate on me throughout the book. It wasn't until about 60% in where that pattern began to change up and the plot progressed.

One aspect I loved in this was the themes explored regarding morals, and ethics surrounding free will. There were also plenty of emotional moments throughout the story and Shorefall sets up beautifully for the conclusion of the trilogy, Locklands.
