For me, personally, this book is not horrible, but it wasn't good either. It just ... was/is.

I don't know why, but lately a lot of "witchy" stories, have just not been great to me except for a few. But this one especially.
There was no world building, at all. We just know that she lives on an island, tides are bad, and there is a mainland for non witches.
The magic system was kind of unique? But at the same time, we have good magic and then "dark" magic that apparently is not really dark. But it definitely seems dark by what can be done with it. But then the good magic is also bad for nature, so it's like insane to me. Imo, all of the magic was bad honestly.
The FMC was so immature. She is supposed to be in her 20's and yet acts like she's 13 and controlled by nothing but her hormones and does not know how to make a decision at all. I got so much second hand embarrassment.
The MMC is supposed to be a bad boy, but just seemed very one dimensional with no personality what so ever.

The only good thing I do have to say and why this was not 1 star for me, is that the author is excellent with words. It was her writing that kept me reading & listening in hopes that the actual characters and plot would get better. Alas, they did not.

So this one was a bust for me. But you may love it, so check it out for yourself and feel free to let me know in the comments if you love it or hate it!

Happy reading babes!
