Against Massacre: Humanitarian Interventions in the Ottoman Empire, 1815-1914: The Emergence of a European Concept and International Pra by Davide Rodogno

4.0

A competent and informative account of the history of the late Ottoman Empire and the matter of humanitarian, military, and political intervention and mediation on the parts of the various European nations, explained in the European perspective. There was a noticeable lack of perspective from the Ottoman side, but one cannot expect a book to contain everything. In fact, anyone wishing to learn about any historical event or period should always read through diverse literary sources in order to reconcile and compare the various perspectives. Additionally, for those interested in early Lebanese war history, this might be the book for you.
