The Face of Another by Kōbō Abe

4.0

Let me pat my own shoulder first as I finished the big 'task': surviving The Face of Another.
This is probably the darkest, most grotesque book I've ever read that doesn't involve apparent crime acts. Well, other than buying illegal weapon just because ('the mask' desire to do so). It's both alien and humane at the same time. And how the story developed from... icky to contemplative, that adds one more star to my initially so-so review.
Looking forward to reading Abe's other 2 books that has been lying on my desk.
