Exit Strategy by Martha Wells
5.0

I adore Murderbot! It's far more relatable than any AI has a right to be. Exit Strategy might be my favorite installment so far. It dives deeper into Murderbot’s evolving self awareness and emotional complexity, especially around the humans it’s accidentally grown to care about. There’s something so compelling about its constant internal conflict: wanting to be left alone to binge media, while also feeling this undeniable tug toward connection and responsibility.

The pacing is as tight and fast as ever packed with sharp dialogue, tense action and that signature dry humor but that doesn’t mean it’s shallow. Wells continues to explore rich themes around autonomy, identity and the ethics of artificial intelligence with nuance and empathy. I’ll never get tired of being inside Murderbot’s head and this book proves again why The Murderbot Diaries is one of the most consistently brilliant scifi series out there.
