Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo

I... Don't even know where to start... I guess I could start by saying that I don't remember ever reading a book this big (and heavy, my arms hurt) so fast. But then again, it didn't feel like reading a book. It felt like visiting old friends, it felt my coming home to see your family and notice how so much has changed but how much everything is just the same.

I was there for the scheming and the wars and the spying and especially for the stealing and I couldn't bear to put the book down and leave them alone... A friend doesn't just walk away during a war, or during a heist or while secrets are being shared... Because it didn't feel like reading...

Series aren't easy, I imagine, not if they're done right... And, to make it like you are part of the story, through references and terms and notions that don't need to be constantly re-explained to have meaning, because you KNOW who broke into the Ice Court, because you KNOW the stories they heard as children, because you KNOW what really happened in Ravka's civil war... These touches mean more BECAUSE they aren't infinitely explained... Not every series makes it feel like you're among friends, like you're in on the inside joke, not every series makes it feel like you're being welcomed home. But for me, This book is just that...

(PS - When we have a new Crows book, I might actually faint of happiness. OR live with my eyes in it's pages for the foreseeable future, who knows?)
