The first four books in this series were great but I honestly just didn't care about Ronan and Daisy whatsoever. I also thought I was fine with age gaps but after reading this and only being able to make it 100 pages, I can confidently say that the age gap thing is only ok when its maximum like 10 years. The gap in age was honestly just grossing me out so much that I had to put the entire book done at about page 100. I decided I wanted to at least skim through the rest of the book and when the big conflict is revealed to Ronan, he had nearly the same reaction to their collective actions that I did in the first part of the book.
If the main characters didn't have Daisy's mom in common, perhaps the age gap wouldn't have been so bad but the fact that Ronan loved Daisy's mom then Daisy is just a bit much for me. One could argue that a similar situation occurs in the first book with the FMC dating her ex's dad but they don't have that shared time of both of them thinking about the FMC as a literal child.
This was just not the vibe whatsoever for me. I'm hoping the last book will be better because I would hate to end this series on a bad note especially after liking the first four so much. As I mentioned before, I actually read to a little past page 100 but came back to it and skimmed the rest of the way to get the main points to say that I finished it. I can confidently say that this was the best decision for me because I otherwise would have put myself into a reading slump.
Some of the spicy scenes were good but I also read them from a disconnected perspective because I wasn't thinking about the weird age gap relationship that the characters had. Spice scenes out of context = good. Spice scenes in context of age gap relationship in this book = not good at all.
