everyone i told about this book laughed at me because it was called “little mushroom.” “such a silly name,” they said! but every time i read this book i was genuinely distraught by how sad it was. to everyone who recommended this book and said it was “lighthearted” i implore you to never review a book ever again. peace and love! <3
even though i often found myself staring out my dorm window wistfully while reading this, this book was such a fun read! during my lecture today, i had my phone hidden under my desk just so i could read it. if you are my professor and somehow are reading this, that was a joke! haha! i am very attentive during class and would NEVER do such a silly thing.
sometimes during the science parts my eyes would glaze over and i was reminded that there was a reason i became an english major and not, say, a climatologist. and if you are saying to the screen right now “it’s a science fiction book, what did you expect?” yes, i am aware. i was here for the vibes and adventures of a little mushroom discovering what it means to be human. and i didn’t need to understand the science parts to get that!
