This was a solid debut novel from the author. I really enjoyed how detailed the scenes were and that I could easily imagine the fantastical world that was being revealed to Toby. The characters were very likable, especially the side characters. While I did enjoy the relationship between Toby and Thon, and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of spice, their chemistry wasn't totally doing it for me. I do enjoy insta love but I wish I felt more of the love between them, it was more told to you than shown. The beginning was a bit difficult to get into as it felt a tad choppy, but I'm happy I continued. I loved that the mystery and suspense made it difficult to put the book down as I just wanted to know what happened next. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. I am a big fan of series that follow different couples but have the same overarching plot.
