This was my fourth KH book and the first not focused on a war. I really enjoyed this. It was hard to read at times. The description of domestic abuse, injuries, and the gore of the Alaskan wild was a lot sometimes. But like all of KH’s books, this was heartfelt, challenging, and heartbreaking. I found myself frustrated with Cora and Leni at times (especially with Leni at the end) and I did feel that the book wrapped up too magically and cleanly for Leni but I suppose the ending couldn’t have felt as satisfying if it hadn’t ended the way it did. Overall, a book I’d recommend!
