This book is about star crossed lovers and hurts even more when you realize she was born from a star he wished upon when wanting something more. I did not expect to sob while reading this book, but the last six pages tore my heart out. I realize that I am crying over a happy ending but it’s not the happy ending they deserved. I don’t even want to know how much time has passed from the ending to this book to the resolution in secret of the wings, me imagining that there’s hundreds of years between tink and periwinkle’s arrival has me spiraling.
The longing stares and the just out of reach trope made me so giddy. The world building was so wonderfully done, I could so perfectly imagine what she wrote and stepping into Pixie Hallow made my childhood self burst into tears. Growing up watching movies about Neverland and Pixie Hallow made this book that much more nostalgic.
Not only did I fall in love with how the main fairies were written, but also the side characters truly did provide so much to the story. Noctua, I mean come on every Disney character needs an animal sidekick and the snowy owl had such a personality, when it came to Clarion after she called 🥹. Artemis being the steadfast guard, with a longing for more, was such a good offset to Petra, and their relationship slowing blossoming was so sweet to see while their interactions became more frequent and connected.
