Me Talk Pretty One Day
by David Sedaris
funny
This might have been the most fun I’ve ever had reading a book - literally smiling ear to ear to myself like a dummy - and it seems fitting I got it recommended from an entirely boring date ages ago. I think David Sedaris would appreciate that.
Some of my favorite short stories, though truly I loved them all, were “Twelve Moments in the Life of the Artist”, “You Can’t Kill the Rooster”, “The Great Leap Forward”, “Me Talk Pretty One Day”, and “Jesus Shaves”.
I rented my copy from the library and someone penciled in a new favorite quote of mine that I truly don’t remember reading in the book but that fits great: “I haven’t got the slightest idea how to change people, but still I keep a long list of prospective candidates just in case I should ever figure it out”.
“Certain motherfuckers think they can fuck with my shit, but you can’t kill the Rooster. You might can fuck him up sometimes, but, bitch, nobody kills the motherfucking Rooster. You know what I’m saying?”
