The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain

4.0

I loved this book from the very first time I read it. I think Mark Twain does an excellent job of capturing the youthful antics and imagination of childhood in his story. I’ve always favoured silvertongued trickster characters as the heroes in books and I can still remember marveling at how clever Tom had seemed to me as kid outwitting his friends and getting them to paint the fence for him using his wits. His adventures playing robbers with his friends and discovering bandits in the caves had been a source of delight for me back then as much as it is now. It has been and continues to be one of my favourite books that always makes me feel like a kid again when I read it.
