Good YA start to the series. I enjoyed it enough to finish the book.
I did think Alina was a little whiny/naive in some parts of the book. But I also understand the allure of the darkling. And the power he wields. I was glad to see Mail wasn’t truly upset with Alina as it wasn’t her fault she was the Sun summoner. But he isn’t my top choice for a love interest either.. I feel like if the whole story went with her joining the Darkling that would be a wild twist & probably make this whole series even better.
I did like the twist of her power that it wasn’t solely the darkling’s, just because he killed the stag. That did add a nice little underdog overcomes type of touch to the story.
