”Fuck, how I've missed this. We were only teenagers, but I knew then that I was going to spend the rest of my life between her thighs. She was it for me.”

What a story. I am not normally one for a second chance romance but make it dark romance and I am there. I was captured by how unhinged Rafferty was, particularly when it came to making Posie pay for what she did in the past. Watching the chaos around her, Posie sometimes felt like a bit of an inanimate character. She often let things happen to and around her without really reaching out to change the course of action. The emotional energy vibrates off the pages, the push-pull, the fine line between longing and toxicity, love and hate. It makes for a volatile and tangled romance, but one that is all about love in the end. Posie was forced to break, in order to protect the person they both love most in the world. The ending for this story made me accept everything that Raff had put Posie through, their joint suffering could have been shortened and dealt with. Then the inescapable chemistry between the two of them could have been making them both happy.
