These stories were shocking. Perhaps I have avoided feeling ecological grief related to climate change. A consequence of this avoidance would be no further imaginings of how “bad” it could get. Spoiler Alert!
Everyone losing taste and smell forever? A monster in the sea that eats a nervous bride?
No mind. There are many other horrific futures imagined here that you can discover if you read this set of stories. Believable? Almost. I wouldn’t read these stories for pleasure. It took me a while, because I kept avoiding the book. Utopic futures are missing from our culture and are a viable option. Was the collection imaginative. Yes, quite. I’d like to see Fu put her hand to utopia : . )
