Britney King is an auto-read for me. I rarely even look at the blurb for her books before reading. I always know if anyone is gonna put me on the edge of my seat, white-knuckling my Kindle, it's Britney King, so when I saw the title The Sickness, I was fully on board (pun maybe intended a little bit). Anyway, I started reading, and my first thought was early 2020 and the cruise ships forced to sit offshore, waiting for permission to dock and let the passengers back on dry land. That's a broad explanation, but I can imagine the places an author's mind would go with everything going on in the world. Of course, a deadly virus isn't exactly the kind of sickness happening on board this ship. I'll skip the spoilers - if you've read this author, you already know there will be twists along with some shocking behavior. There are also the questions, second-guessing yourself about everyone's motives. So, if you enjoy a good thriller, you don't want to miss The Sickness, and if you're new to Britney King, this is a pretty good place to start. It's wonderfully written, hard to put down, and even a little bit nerve-wracking. The pacing is what a good thriller should be, and if you're like me, this one is perfect for trying to guess the character's motives before the reveal.
