The Sea of Tranquility
by Katja Millay
I've thought about nothing but this book since I tapped the screen for the last time on my Kindle two nights ago, and I still don't have words to properly review this book. Would it be good enough to simply say it left me with the best book hangover I've had in a really long time? Yeah, didn't think so.
I can't say much without spoiling it, because there are so many layers, so much unraveling as you turn each page that to say anything more would steal the joy of discovery from you.
This is the story of two people who have suffered deep, painful, and in Nastya's case, unimaginable loss. It's hard to read, but it's equally beautifully written. Watching these two characters - Josh Bennett (swoon alert) and Nastya find themselves again and help each other in the process is simply stunning.
Every character in this book is written with depth, and I found myself wanting to read more about all of them. I wasn't sure what to make of Drew, the playboy of the book, but he's a lovable guy, and part of me wants to see what his story could look like fully played out. Parts of the book could have used some tightening, but it didn't detract from the overall quality of this story.
Do yourself a favor and read this book. Millay will take you on a beautiful, dark journey, filled with power tools, a boy that will melt your heart, and lots of great banter. Go!!
