When the Bough Breaks by Jonathan Kellerman

4.0

This book is hard to rate. Though a bit predictable, the plot is exciting enough to keep you reading and the characters are likable (at least in the beginning). I really liked the interactions between Alex and his cop friend Milo as well as his girlfriend Robin. What bothers me is that half way into the book, the tone changes and Alex Delaware just transforms from a scholar and psychologist to an action hero of sorts. He may exercise more after his retirement but overall, he's still kinda out of shape and I just don't think he can take on those people, simply unconvincing. In fact, a large part of the story is too far-fetching and definitely decreases the quality of the plot.
