This first Ruth Galloway was available on BorrowBox (library) and I couldn’t resist trying it. I downloaded the audiobook and proceeded to whizz through it. It turned out to be a very easy and entertaining read, following the title character.

Griffiths created an atmospheric setting, the marshes being at the same time fascinating and threatening. I did smile when the author used a quote from [b:The Moonstone|6138|The Moonstone|Wilkie Collins|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1403192382l/6138._SY75_.jpg|1044477] to describe it, cementing my belief that she is a fan of Collins. Instead of using the world of literature as she had done in both [b:The Stranger Diaries|40796097|The Stranger Diaries (Harbinder Kaur #1)|Elly Griffiths|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1532738769l/40796097._SY75_.jpg|58794499] and [b:The Postscript Murders|49012512|The Postscript Murders (Harbinder Kaur #2)|Elly Griffiths|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1601897541l/49012512._SY75_.jpg|74433760], we are introduced here to archeology, a topic I’ve always been interested in.

Not a bad start for a series... :0)
