This is definitely a unique take on the vampire story. I appreciated how Lydia struggled with her identity in multiple ways: as a biracial person, as a young adult on their own for the first time, as an adult, as a vampire. I liked the parallels there and how her art changed and evolved as she figured out what exactly she wanted from life and who she was. At times I felt the book was a bit slow and meandering, but I think for the type of story it was telling that that works.
