This is my fourth time reading The Great Gatsby, and once again I am enchanted by the inexhaustible ability of this book to unshadow some new phrase or passage that you missed on a previous read. It has a visceral magic to it that I am forever enthralled by. I only wish Fitzgerald could have seen how beloved this book would become, since it was a commercial flop upon the public's first blush with it.

This is one of my favorite books of all time - in many ways, it IS my favorite book of all time. Gatsby believed in the green light...
